Head of Employee Benefits
Founded in 2011, World Insurance Associates (“World”) is the #16 P&C brokerage firm in the U.S. They specialize in personal and commercial insurance lines, surety and bonding, employee and executive benefits, retirement plan services, financial planning services, and payroll & HR solutions.
Serving more than 300,000 clients, World has offices around the country, which drives attentive service from a local advisor who personally knows clients, and who will work to solve insurance, risk management, retirement planning, and HR management challenges.
World is owned by a combination of investors including Charlesbank Capital Partners and Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The management team and employees are also key shareholders.
The Opportunity
The Head of Employee Benefits will fill the critical need of running the day-to-day business operations, interacting extensively with key managers and office heads to provide leadership and direction for all Employee Benefits business activities.
Responsibilities
• Drive the short- and long-term business strategy and objectives, ensuring that the Employee Benefits Practice continues to operate effectively, assisting in the integration and optimization of acquired businesses.
• Direct and coordinate activities that drive organic growth, margin expansion, and partner with leadership on accretive acquisition opportunities.
• Spearhead operating excellence and create a Practice infrastructure that is highly efficient and scalable as the overall company expects significant revenue growth within the next few years.
• Work seamlessly with the executive management and other Regional and Practice Leaders, ensuring open and transparent lines of communication and providing performance updates and reports on key operational indicators.
• Oversight of operational processes; setting clear metrics and performance goals for each brokerage agency which are aggressive yet achievable and tied to long term corporate goals.
• Promote and drive a culture of high performance, accountability, and client service.
• Act as the prime point of contact with insurers/administrator partners dealing with new products, compensation, preferred pricing arrangements, pilot projects, and areas in need of improvement.
• Serve as the primary initial point of contact with all insurers to assure the proper commissions and non-production revenue (e.g., override, supplemental, contingency, compensation) are received with established insurance company contracts. Responsible for the maximization of non-production revenue.
• Designate individual responsibility and establish scope of authority for the accomplishment of objectives among the World team members.
• Ensure that training and development programs are in place for all positions, and that Associates with growth potential are identified as candidates for development.
• Responsible for maintaining associate turnover at an acceptable level whether voluntary or involuntary.
• Make a positive contribution to client (internal and external) satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service.
• Maintain good working relationships with carrier contacts.
• Communicate in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.

Candidates will possess an insider’s view of the key business drivers in the insurance brokerage industry and a strong understanding of the consumer sales process.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
• Proven track record of success in profit and loss management roles within an entrepreneurial and growth-oriented insurance brokerage
• Success in developing and leading a high performance, cohesive team and culture that has the momentum to advance and progress – a team builder and leader who can maximize the collective performance of a team that has diverse operations and geographies and bring relevant skills of each member to the benefit of the whole
• Proven track record of success as a producer, client manager, and as a leader/manager of teams within the small and middle market Employee Benefits market segment.
• Strong market profile and reputation with carriers, clients, employees
• Broad general management experience across several functions, including sales management, marketing and operations and experience leading a highly disciplined, focused organization that consistently delivers and achieves critical performance metrics (i.e., driving growth targets, improving margins, implementing systems/processes).
• Success in leading teams through organic growth, extensive experience with M&A and acquisition integration/achievement of synergies is a plus.
• Experience managing effectively in a leveraged environment, ideally within a private equity portfolio company
